TF80 is a decent box, but not unbreakable

chances are itd never had a fluid change while towing, if so, im not surprised that it died

There is one in Western Wisconsin that is the largest in the usa
Shipping is $1k on its own though to aus

Rebuild in aus should be $2500 if you pull the box or less

The issues is that it's a prick to pull so it's a lot of labour more than anything else

Keep in mind volvo have used aisian Warner autos that are used by toyota etc as well since the 240 volvo. The ford era autos were not cheap because of Being owned by them.

Buying a car that was towIng for that long is your real issue with no oil cooler or transmission service. if you do the same with your low horsepower 240 it will Also die too. But the major point is they are newer cars with far more power and safety. No point saying they are all crap and need to be like a slow 240 240.

At all if you read what I said I wish newer cars are build better gearbox wise .
The xc70 has oil cooler under drivers seat under the car don't know if all xc70 are same or if other owner had it installed .
It does have Volvo stamped on cooler

thats the fuel cooler

trans cooler is in one of the radiator end tanks, which helps, but isnt enough for heavy towing

even volvo specifies a 70k interval when towing

They are built better gearbox wise, they handle far more power and are smoother shifting all while fitting in a smaller space than a rwd transmission can fit

That has copped a good knock!

The cooler is for diesel returning to the tank really as the pressures in the system dump a bit of heat, don't know too much though.
