@seggle02 I am using my 91 245 Wagon in tandem with another classic (83' Merc G-wagen) as my daily and am very happy with the set-up. I had a new BMW losing $1k a day with no enjoyment so makes sense to run the old cars me thinks for better fun/value ratio.

A lot of people seem to freak out about the thought of an older car as a daily.
My daily drive 5 years ago was a mini moke, after that the 245 seems like luxury with real windows and lockable doors.
In the 2.5 years I've had the volvo the only breakdown that has had me getting a lift home was a failed clutch line, and to be honest I could (and have) limped home without being able to clutch in before, it just happened that there was a lift available at the time. On a 350,000k car replacements have been:
-clutch line and master cylinder
-driveshaft centre bearing and rear uni
-1 bottle of power steering stop leak
-1 fan belt
Total cost of about $200 plus the usual service fluids and filters, can't really complain when that's half what you pay for a single service at a dealer on most modern cars

As much as I love my 1993 manual 240 sedan with working aircon
The 2007 manual s40 I have shits over it in terms of daily driver comfort
I don't think I would ever go back to the 240 as much fun as it was
Being able to plug the car into Vida and just know what broke instead of educated guesswork is also a massive win on a dd
A 240 is a utilitarian amazing car
It will serve dd duties with ease
But by the time you buy one in good nick and put $1200 in stage 0 bits into it your at the point when you could have had a cheap and reliable lancer for the same price and much less effort
