Hard to tell from only one picture. I think one sold for $15,000 but it must have been low kms & immaculate.

No, saw for sale on carsales.com for $15,000 but it is a gold one! Another passed in on Shannons ($7-10,000 range). Redbook comes up with $1100 -2500 range. There's a couple on Gumtree one for $1600 with some rust and a better one in Grafton for $3,000 but it needs work too.

The roughies are virtually being given away, but the decent ones still go for acceptable money - just haven't seen enough advertised lately to be able to make any sort of informed comment (although $15k for one is a huge surprise! I'd have thought that half that would be top dollar for a good one).

My old man bought one for about $6000. Can't remember exactly. Good condition with pristine polaris rims. Needs the efi serviced (maybe just injectors - haven't had a chance to look at it) but otherwise sweet and manual.

I'd be happy buying a gold one if there was a better engine in it, say a V8. A Volvo mechanic in Canberra did such a conversion to make it his tow vehicle (he raced a 144).

I wonder if the 960 whiteblock would go in?

Vince Harmer. His 262 is show worthy, with a 350 Chev in it - it hasn't towed anything in a long time!
He's actually got photos of Colin Powell checking it out. Got the full security thing with sniffer dogs and stuff.
Vince has/had a late Commodore ute, which I believe is his actual tow vehicle.

The B6304 does fit into a 2-series.

If his is ever for sale I'd be a buyer. It is beautifully done.

If the whiteblock does fit, do you need to change the transmission too or does it bolt straight in. (There may yet be a 262C in my future!)

Transmission is different, use the 960 box.. From the quick bit of reading I have done it seems to be a relatively straight forward fit.

There are a few threads on fitting a whiteblock to a 2 series around on turbobricks :p

First volvo I ever went in was a gold 262c with a holden v8 stroked to 355cubes. Made me think about volvos. Owner and car moved to nsw though. Ross was the owners name.

I'd love the white one that sold years ago that I know is just sitting around. Flat hood front with later headlights etc. Stick my b280 in it with a manual and ms3 and enjoy the 180 odd hp it makes.

I'm pretty keen on 262's myself, however would only buy one on the cheap, as I'm not going to pay silly money for one.
