I have a 745 parts car from which to source the firewall, steering rack, wiring loom, dash top, console side panels, wiper motor and ancillaries, steering column, cover plate in front of the windscreen, and a few other odds and sods for Project Bertone.

I will however need a RHD ECC HVAC unit from an 89+ 760 - ECC was fitted to the 780s in 1988. And I found out yesterday I'll need another auto transmission console cover panel, as the RHD and LHD ones are different and I have one tagged for deployment in Project Jurbo, which I hope will be registered and ready for Gerringong.

The 780 glovebox is a variation on a 740 one - it has a better (more study ) top panel section, along with a boot release integrated into that top panel. It should be possible to adapt a 740 one, as the lower box part of the glovebox is the same. The glovebox door is different of course.

The centre lower dash console is standard Seven fare, and was fitted with the premium sound system Volvo offered at the time.

Not yet. The previous owner cleaned up the paintwork on the boot and didn't put them back on. And probably just as well, considering the car's intercontinental travels. .

Yours sound elegantly quiet when you ran it in the garage that evening. The 780 sounded quite meaty, especially on the run up Lapstone hill on the way back from Port Botany. I haven't heard enough PRVs to have an ear for how well (or otherwise) they run.

Well... we were in an enclosed space when you started the 760 up, so I took that into account. The 780 was quite vocal, even in open spaces. BTW, as I mentioned that evening, that pair of B280E heads also arrived with the car, which I won't need...
