Along similar lines to Rob's thread, he's mine about a car that I dont want to sell but probably should.
I drove it a total of just over 100kms in 2013, about 405kms in 2012 (all in the same day) and maybe 100kms in 2011.
I love it, it's super fun to drive, capable as a track car, and great for a blast along the Great Ocean Road (or similar) if you just want to go out for a coffee. :)
I've had it since December 2001, it was originally an auto car and I picked it up with 147k kms on it. It has 210k kms on it now.
From 2001 to late 2003, I used it as my only car and drove it to and from work. We slowly worked our way through it and I began doing more and more supersprints, track days, hillclimbs and motorkhanas.
My dad and I did all the work on it - this is the big reason for the sentimental value, as its unlikely we'll get the chance to share a project like it again.
In 2004, I bought an 1995 850T5 wagon (actually from Ben on here) which became the work car and we slowly did more and more to the 240.
I did a fair bit of track work with until early 2007 when we decided to build our home - this meant a pause on other expensive hobbies.
The dust settled with the house, I did a single track day (in the rain, on old, old tyres) in late 2007 and then decided to race karts instead.
It hasnt done any track work since and hasnt done any significant kms either, though we did use it as one of our wedding cars in 2011!
It'd be a great starting point for a tarmac or more serious track car - If I were to keep it, a turbo conversion and a cage and some more serious wheels are the top of the list.

To RWC it’ll definitely need –
* A cat fitted
* Glass RR door window re-fitted (it is here in the spares as I used it for a template for the polycarbonate one)
‘Maybes’ are as follows –
* Front brake likes are stainless steel sheath with Teflon cores and speedflow fittings – good enough for a V8Supercar, but no ADR approval markings.
* Not sure about Mazda RX7 caliper conversion. They may suggest it requires and engineers approval – easy enough to convert back to 240 calipers and discs though.
To be a pleasant road car, you’d also do the following –
* More comfortable, adjustable front seats
* Re-fit rear interior – there is nothing behind the front seats.
* Relocate the battery. Easiest to move it to the boot.
* More conservative front spring rate
* Personally I’d go for a ‘soft’ mounted panhard bar, as you can hear the heim joints load and unload inside the car. It’d drive me crazy if I listened to it everyday.
It'll be sold unregistered and without a RWC but can be registered on Vic Club Reg in August (build date of the car is 8/89)
I'm after $5000 for it. If you are serious about it and need some more info, let me know. I'm happy to negotiate a little, there are a lot of spares that come with it too.
I dont expect to come close to recovering the cost of it, but I'd love for someone else to enjoy it and look after it.
