It is an ARD tune at the moment. While I think ARD's stuff is a good cheap drop in option, it is certainly not ideal.

I am currently talking with a guy in the U.K. about tunes. I have the tunerpro setup and have played with a tune myself too, not 100% satisfied with my own tuning abilities just yet either.

Hopefully we can come up with something better in the near future.

Nice work on the downpipe, any reason you want stainless instead of coated steel? I'd recommend wrapping with titanium wrap also, get the temps down a bit.

Not really, I made the first one out of aluminised steel because of price, just figured i would make a future one out of something a little more durable. It is on there now though so it will be staying put until i have a reason to pull it off.

Will probably stockpile a few bends and make a couple of copies next time it is off.

I have ordered a bit of exhaust wrap so will be wrapping it up. Try and keep a little heat off the firewall and off the steering rack.

ARD Tunes are a mixed bag in terms of positive reviews some have been bitterly disappointing whilst a few have run into the high 12's with a 2.3HPT 20T and pump gas + water/meth injection of slicks.

I have two ARD blue tunes for several years on two separate cars and have performed without issues. Having said that i am currently retuning with Beust (Aaron) state side, base tune is already very promising at 10 psi.

Very hard to confirm the negative responses.
What car A has had done and supporting mods and the expectation is all different to car B of course, I opted my Green tune in without doing the supporting mods, got better power, used more fuel, I could have cried foul with that but it's my laziness at not getting all parameters (that the tune was built for) set. He can only offer a safe tune too, as his years at IPD would have taught him.

how extensive can a mail order tune really ever be? besides more boost, and a little more timing for better fuel, what else can be altered without logging AFRs on the street or dyno? Perhaps scaling for different injectors, but if you are reaching the limit of the stock injectors, you are probably reaching a level of a larger turbo and exhaust and I would have thought a proper custom tune would be safer than a mail order tune.

Would I be happy paying big bucks for simply a little more boost through an email file? That depends on how big the bucks are, but this is relative for everyone.

I have said it many times. I am happy with the ARD tune for what it is.

They supplied an ecu with more boost, rear O2 delete, injector correction and perhaps a tweak here and there for a nominal amount.

It is not and will never be a proper custom tune.

Least people now can get tuner pro and add more boost safely and save money, the point being there is nothing special about off the shelf map's but it is an easy way of getting more boost within safe parameters if you're running a stock setup.
