Bit of history.
Ex Sydney car , was classed as a repairable write off. Obviously it has been repaired . Was bought to SA and front suspension rebuilt ,engineers reports done and passed by the government authority. Car is tight albeit with a couple rattles in the dash. Local Volvo specialist worked on this car when he was in Sydney and knows the car . He also did the repairs when it came to Adelaide. It's been chipped as well..
I like it :D

Nice, Looks good.

i'm not a huge fan of the sedans but it looks like a really neat example. Do you have any plans for it other than drive/enjoy?
narly57
It will be a daily driver and maybe a weekend tourer if I do a cabin stay . The other vehicle is set up for camping and towing the van. It will remain pretty much stock although I wouldn't mind putting a mild exhaust system on it.
Want to fix a couple of small dents and have the roof strips redone

I prefer the 850r in a sedan, chuck some S70 weather strips in it from a pick n pull wrecker, less prone to falling apart

Looks good. I think the Sedan looks good in lighter colours.

Did this one come via ebay a while back?
White 850Rs look great!
Ignoring the little cosmetic stuff (though the RR quarter repair will be a PITA to do), it looks awesome.
phonsa
Love the White and black contrast, simple, slick and clean.

It's only down to weather age , the ones on my v70r are stuffed from outback exposure yet my v70t ones are fine.
Doesn't IPD do a kit to recoat them? Could be wrong. Try a panel shop n ask what they would do? Maybe these are actually cheap to get new , has anyone ever checked??
narly57
Ok , so it's had a check up . Nothing serious . Basically , timing belt is due , sway bar link rods worn, one CV boot is split , fuel pump seal is probable cause of fuel smell when parked on a slope ( my driveway ).
Mechanic has a white bonnet to replace my dented one .
Dash mounts are broken , don't know what to do with that one ???
Not sure what to do with the roof strips yet , can't find a wrecked S70 sedan here . Almost thinking about pulling them out and painting them.
Looking closely at the rims they are pretty ratty , like they are flaking or peeling ..... is this normal or could they have been coated ?
Wouldn't mind a roof spoiler .... I like em. .. Are they available ?
AshDVS
Thats not too bad, basic sorta stuff. The dash mounts are annoying but thats really it.
Ex850R
Get the dash out and youcan see what you need threads on Mathews Volvo Site and Volcospeed show use of aluminium sheet to stregnthen the tab mounts , use of windscreen glue in reinstalling it is good idea too!
Do the dash light bulbs and odometer gear while in there.
Refurb the wheels? Blast and powder coat.
The strips , mmm , havent thought where/what to use yet , wouldnt bother with ones off another old car...
narly57
It's off to see Chris on Wednesday for fuel pump seal , replace the bonnet & new head unit installed . Pulled out of the carpark at work today and no speedo , ABS & Tracs light on , put foot on on the brake and speedo starts working , take foot off and speedo no worky :-? . Stopped at the lights for awhile , take off , speedo works. Splash and go at the BP , restart and no lights (ABS , Tracs) , speedo all good for rest of the trip home . :-?
