Loved my Pug 604.....wasn't so keen on its thirst though!
12mpg with the Holley 350.....but at least it worked unlike the crappy twin Solex rig!

I owned a 24v version of the motor for several years. I really wanted to put it in my 760, with a r154 box. But when I started studying a few years back i sold it, for a profit though.

The 760 has decked. 035' heads and ported intake and heavily ported exhaust side to make it euro spec. As well as headers and full 2.5" exhaust. And is being converted to manual now i have my b28 flywheel machined to suit the b280 ecu.

Turboing one vs the 4cyl... The They break ringlands and are not fun to make run on a aftermarket ecu. But they are rewarding in their own way.

No different to the GM 3800 V6's that they made millions of. Aside from the archaic agricultrual design they managed to get them both reliable and efficient. Rough though.

The straight 6 is appealing from a smoothness/balance perspective. I just don't know *anything* about the whiteblock motors.

They are pretty easy to find out about with this internet thing. Buy a 960 and enjoy the smoothness and extra torque!

Can I transplant the 960 motor into the 740? I'm not a fan of the "upgraded" 960 front end and I already have a 740 I like.

Have thought about this myself but haven't tried. If the motor dies in my 740, I will be tempted as 960s are dirt cheap and have a better gearbox.

Parts of the article were a but too technical for me, but I understood most of it. The odd timing coz it is a 90* engine was interesting.

Yes. The redblock gets more power. Though my 760 with a manual should be 100rwkws when done...

PRV can make insane power just like a redblock...but very few people try.

Exactly, my 264gle with a manual made 94rwkws with nothing done to it! And a stock auto 740t makes 95rwkws on the same dyno.
