1979 door arm rest

Hi guys, I’m looking for a black front passenger door armrest for a 1979 244. It’s the new version that came out in 1978. Not the 1975-77 one that is the same as 144

I could only find a dark blue arm rest.

You could paint it black if you need it looking like a perfect match.

I'll have a look in my stash…although if I have one it's more likely to be brown or tan than black. Will let U know.

OK I have one, but I'm struggling to tell if it's dark blue or black. The larger power window one here is blue, and you can see the comparison. I have a feeling it's dark blue. It's in decent condition with a bit of porosity in a few spots. Probably would clean up OK. Happy to send it to you for the cost of postage (probably medium bag so approx $20). Lemme know if you want it.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, if you black vinyl-spray over the blue it's imperceptible for years. Might be tempting to do both sides so the lustre matches. Black is of course preferable.

Doing it over the tan isn't so successful, as it only coats & doesn't soak in, being in a "high-traffic" location you eventually scrape it off with a fingernail or a knee ... same with the blue, but it's much harder to notice.

Forg Yep I agree - I've had good luck spraying black fabric/vinyl paint over the dark blue and even brown.
