It's more about driveability ("area under the curve") than max power, having EFI vs carbies. Probably not a lot more max power to be had with EFI (actually - there may not be any - any gains at the top end are probably only because tuning EFI is easier).

Volvo should have realised there's no substitute for cubic inches and stuck a V8 in the GT way back when.

The Lexus 1UZ-FE 4.0 V8 has 242 cubic inches (lucky number) and 256HP - a bulletproof engine Toyota spent a fortune developing.

Hats off to the man who built this GT going V8 all the way!
