Bruiser Mine's likely dying with dashlights staying on and battery measuring 13v when running. Up to what year can I obtain a compatible secondhand one? Cheers.
ramrod Either replace it with a brand new alternator or rebuild the current one. Going to the trouble of sourcing and installing a second hand unit, is a gamble.
dmc have it tested, there is a good chance it is just a voltage reg. those things are near on bullet proof.
Bruiser The day before I was replacing the steering coupler rubber block and accidentally touched back of alternator and there was a spark. Could that have caused the problem?
jamesinc Eh probably not. You should check the ground too. See if there is a voltage drop between the alternator housing and chassis.
