Over (or under) diff exhaust section 240

I’m chasing the section that goes over the diff, or under if it all still links up.
In or around Melbourne.
It’s for a 240 wagon, but it seems they’re all the same between body shapes??

I assume you’re welding it on yourself correct?

ramrod the section I’ve removed has slip joints both sides, don’t see what would need welding unless someone only has a portion of this section?

Yeah just chasing na 2 inch, should have included that I suppose.

IPD stuff looks great, just not the route I want to go.

Might get lucky although mixing and matching used exhausts always seems to be a bit of a nightmare in my experience. It wouldn't cost much to have an exhaust shop fab up the piece you need.

jamesinc this is where I started, but cannot for the life of me find a willing and helpful shop. The amount of times I’ve been asked to “bring the car in” is unbelievable.

Volvo genuine or good aftermarket may hold together fine with the clamps.

Not so good aftermarket, and mix and matching used exhaust parts will probably need tack weld to help hold things together. I found out the hard way

See if Berry Motor Group has them in stock…not sure whether they stock the individual bits or the whole system, but pretty sure they use the genuine Volvo ones.

carnut222 will give them a buzz tomorrow. Otherwise I’ll just bite the bullet and start building the turbo exhaust now.

I don’t blame them for that, there is no way a job can be verified to work without having the vehicle in front of them to install said parts

IAMLeon I have the IPD stainless turbo exhaust on the back of my non-turbo 244 and it has a real nice note to it.

Exhaust shops usually want to just know whether they are dealing with a clapped out exhaust. Some will replace slip joints with flanges so want to know if they can weld to the existing pipe. I always ask if they do fixed price quoting, I got burned pretty badly once by shonky quoting.

IAMLeon I've bought 2 genuine Volvo 240 Turbo exhaust systems from GCP over the years. Price wasn't too bad…basically downpipe back systems with no resonator forward of rear axle, pipe running under axle and one rear muffler. I think the Turbo system is 62 mm.

jamesinc that’s good to know, I would like to use a twin exit muffler, for something different. Likely no centre resonator as per the IPD setup.
