240 Aftermarket Amp Install

G'day everyone,
I'm in the process of installing a new sound system my 240 and have all the amp wiring running into the boot of the car. Is there an ideal place in the boot to drill 4 holes to mount the amp? I have no problem drilling new holes, but I'm worried drilling into the floor of the boot would punch into the fuel tank (not ideal). There is an upper part of the boot floor I considered drilling into (closest to the rear seats). Otherwise I would make a bracket that could hold the amp against the rear seats that doesn't mean adding new holes, but is a harder process.

Would appreciate any suggestions or guidance on this!

The fuel tank sits under that raised area behind the rear seats, but there's a fair gap between the floor and the tank. If you remove the carpet you'll see the fuel sender access panel. If you remove that, you can have a look under there to see how much space you have to deal with. Main concern would be put a stopper on your drill bit so you can't drill too deep, and use short screws.

Problem with mounting on the floor is then you have to worry about putting things on it, and also cables potentially being affected. I like high on the seatback, or the underside of the parcel shelf, myself.

The last one I did, I made up a sheet of plywood and painted it black, then mounted it to the back of the X-brace that separates the boot from the rear seats.

An older setup that worked really well was I made a sub enclosure that matched the angle of the seat back, then mounted the amp to the back of the enclosure. This was particularly nice because if I needed max boot space, the whole unit could be removed in only a minute or two.

Awesome advice as always, I think going for the mount against the rear passenger seat looks to be the move. Thank you everyone!
