I mistakenly bought a round tooth timing belt for my '93 240 from FCP Euro and it needs the square tooth belt... so I'm selling the round tooth belt if anyone is interested. Continental brand, part number TB234- and it comes with a sticker for the timing belt cover. I'm in Brisbane, but happy to post it at your cost. Image description

Interesting I would have thought all 1993 cars had the B230FX engine which have 531 head which have round teeth belt

These cars are so old these days you can't know exactly what's happened to them over the years, or even what parts Volvo used when running off the last batch of B230F's before using exclusively B230FX's. I wonder if a parts interpreter at a Volvo dealer would've found the right belt given the VIN?

Also - it was made on the 3rd of Twentyseventember this year!

checked VIN with mechanic and he said "B230FX. Should've ordered the square tooth belt though"

my 240 has the B230FX engine in it, original to the car, build date 10/1992, but it seems like not all of them came with a the round tooth setup. I was confused as well, but there was a conversation here a few years back about this exact same issue, and seems like the conclusion is that the last batch of 240s with the B230FX seems to have mostly received the square tooth belt, at least here in Australia. Perhaps the sedans got the square teeth and wagons got the round teeth?

I don't know how much truth there is to this, but I've been told on several occasions that the last year of 240 production, you sometimes get minor irregularities, as Volvo were working on depleting their production parts inventory.

It certainly has a hodge podge feel to it- power windows, but everything else is very basic- only 2 speakers…
