Low oil Warning Glitch

I have 2016 Volvo V40, it has a low oil warning that comes when I start the car. The oil has been replaced after a service and the warning still comes up to add one liter. I think it is wrong, but cant tell due to no -dipstick. The funny thing is when I start the car and rev it for a couple of seconds, switch it off and later check the oil level status it says OK. However, on normal starts it will typically say Low. Anyone else had this gremlin? How to fix it?

We don’t know how much oil the technician added.

You cannot guess and must verify this yourself to be sure

Thanks for the reply. This has been an ongoing saga. I have had the oil pan changed and sensor changed and this glitch keeps on coming up ??? How do I check this without a dipstick. the oil status code just tells if it is high, Low or overfilled. I don't want to be pouring oil and overfill it unnecessary. The service from Volvo has been lousy and cant provide any clarification.

I don’t like them for this reason.

You need to know the capacity of the engine oil, drain it out, measure.

If it’s less, there’s your answer. Find the correct capacity in the owner manual.

In some modern vehicles the low oil level sensor is quite high in the oil pan, so any time the oil level uncovers the sensor it triggers the warning. I would imagine going around turns would trip the warning as it would sense oil being moved around it rather than over it.

So do your own service, save money and at least feel good having the knowledge that the oil level is not low, and that if the message appears again something else is responsible.
