Diameter of Return Fuel Line( sender unit to fuel filter)

Volvo V40 2004 2 litre engine B4204S2 - could someone confirm the internal diameter of the Return Fuel Line( fuel sender unit to Fuel Filter)

That’s going to be tough to get an answer for this here.

Can you yourself measure the OD of the metal return line and then determine the matching ID of the hose you need?

Do you have a picture that could tell more of your story?

ramrod the part I need is in the picture. It’s a moulded fuel line that goes from the sender unit on top of the tank to the fuel filter. It has a Volvo part number 30620511. It’s been discontinued by Volvo.

As far as I can tell the part is specific to the engine code referred to in the post. Looked everywhere I think, for new or used, and can’t find one.

I’m left with the conclusion that I will have to make one myself, otherwise I’ll have to put the vehicle off the road or scrap.

In order to construct one, starting point is to establish the inner diameter of the line. What do you think?

That’s a push clip fitting correct?

That’s going to be tough to make to fit the connections.

I wouldn’t know what to do if I was in your position, sorry

What is actually wrong with the original pipe?

You could keep your original push fittings and cut about an inch ( or where you get plain piping) or so from the end. Flare the ends a little and use hose that fits those pipes. Or look for a second hand unit. Cheers

benmac my plan is to keep the original fitting and get new pipe. What I was trying to find out was did anyone know the diameter of the pipe

AD100 Just take it to your local parts store, most have a vernier to measure what you need.

benmac yeah since I made the post I’ve been chatting with someone who fabricated the same pipe, albeit a variation of the same. He measured his and mentioned vernier.
The car is at a garage and they will hopefully soon get round to removing the part( hopefully without having to drop the tank completely- it seems from chatting to others it will need to lowered slightly ). It will then fall to me to reconstruct a new one. What I am trying to do is as much legwork in advance to save time and did wonder if anyone knew the size.
