Hey all. Been tinkering away for a while restoring an 82 240, originally it was packing a B19E and BW55 but had the opportunity to get my hands on a B230 block and AW-71L from a 740 parts car
Quick edit to clarify here- The Donor 740 was a B230K,
was a pretty easy choice to be honest, more vroom and dependability all round and let me retire the old engine that was on it's last legs.
For the most part pretty seamless swap over, didn't need to do any welding or anything, just shorten up the driveshaft and all bolted in nicely together. Only issue I've had so far is that the Kickdown cable was too long, initially tried snipping a section off and cable joining it, but it's hardly a graceful setup, and wanted to revisit it with a proper cable.
Heres' the part I needed a little help with though, asking around in an AW70 group got me this part number 1239932 a B230F kickdown cable, they weren't super sure because I don't think the yanks ever really got E engines, but they figured the F cable was probably the one I needed. I can't seem to shake the "that aint right" feeling though.
All the sellers I looked at couldn't seem to all agree on of it also fitted to E engines or just F's
And in all the pictures they post the length just seems wrong to me? Maybe they're just taking genuinely awful pictures of their products but it makes it look like the last section where it hooks up to the pulley would be wayyyy too long.
Far as i know An AW70/B230E combo did get sold out in our region of the world so I reckon you guys may know for sure, do the F and E engines use the same [9932] kickdown cable when paired with an AW? Assuming the bracket for the kickdown cable on the E engines didn't change at all during the change from Bxx - Bxxx
Cheers lads.
