Modern tech in a 360

Hi all,

Was looking at getting a new sound and stereo system like android auto and new speakers on a budget and good quality I'm doing auto electrical at wyong tafe and I've part time apprentice at a a shop I'm semi confident I can do it myself but if anyone could point me the right directions that would be good

Currently own a 83 glt bone stock grandma owned and put in a garage

I found that the Aerpro fascia adapter for a Volvo 740 is a good fit in the space that is left when you pull the factory headunit out of a 360.

Aerpro only sell it as a set of three. The other two are for 240s, the middle one is LHD only, but the bottom one you could maybe sell to a 240 owner 🤷‍♂️

@Nutter you have a lot of options. Honestly, just google "1din with screen and wireless Android auto" and go from there.

For Android Auto, because the radio is not 2DIN, you have to use a 1DIN with a screen that sits on the front of the headunit. It would probably sit slightly in the way of the AC controls but idk you'd have to check that yourself.

So what you are wanting to do is, use the fascia I mentioned earlier to convert the 360's non-standard headunit slot into a standard 1DIN slot, and then you are free to mount any 1DIN aftermarket headunit. The headunit will come with a mounting cage that you install into the fascia, and then the headunit slots into that. Make sense?

I have done it in mine, with a 360 specific facia, many many years ago so I’m afraid I couldn’t say where I purchased it from. But I also didn’t fit a CarPlay unit, it was just a single din Bluetooth unit.

The screens on these models don't sit inside the headunit, they sit in front of it, so you can have a 1DIN headunit with a good size touchscreen for Waze.

jamesinc would it work well with an aftermarket sound system if i can wire one in would i need to buy anything else. and if they dont sit inside the head unit where would they sit? infront of it?

Look at the photos in the links, they will answer your questions about what the screen and headunit looks like.

In terms of the electrical side, if you are studying autoelectrical work, you shouldn't have any problems. You will need to cut and splice/crimp/solder wires to adapt the factory wiring to the headunit's connector. The headunit will come with a connector and wiring pigtails, you just need crimps or solder and heatshrink, and a multimeter so you can work out what wire is what. Aftermarket headunits have pretty standard wiring colours, but the factory wiring is not standard colours so you will need to work it out.

Australian 360GLTs were all fuel injected, I don't know if UK ones are the same. Post a photo of the engine bay, it'll be obvious from the photo.

Nutter i guess along with modern tech a reverse camera, parking sensors, sound system, intake, exhaust, fuel pump, would it have a carby and would it be worth changing (fyi i bought this behind my parents back from the uk and they got mad and confiscated it from me) i got a remote inspection from separate mechanics and they all said it looks good and i got my grandparents to look at it to its also not registered or insured

jamesinc so if its got efi no carb? it rocked up while i was at tafe and my parents put it somewhere and i have no clue where i think they might have given it to the neighbor

Being UK market I think it could be a carb, you'll want to check the engine bay before assuming.
