Had a ‘hard to find ‘coolant leak, which ended up being the thermostat housing seal. As my wife was driving to work the top radiator hose burst – 3 inch split – so ideal opportunity to replace the lot Replaced the thermostat housing and seal and upper radiator hose, But still losing coolant. Replacement radiator hose was OEM, and seem to fit okay, but after about 10 klm the hose blew off the radiator. I pushed it back on until I heard a click and locked the wire in place, and all was okay. Next day the same hose blew off the thermostat housing end, and after pushing back on until hearing a click and pressing the wire clip in place, I undid the radiator cap enough to stop pressure buildup, as I no longer trust this pipe. It could have been my fault, as I’ve never used this system before, but time will tell when I re-pressurise the system. Problem is I’m still losing coolant and can’t find where. No sludge in the oil, and is a faster leak than before. As my world works away for several days at a time, I haven’t been able to check the engine yet, but any suggestions would be helpful.
Also, just in the last few days, the starter button seems to be malfunctioning. Inserting the cassett and pressing the button sometimes causes the ignition lights to go out, without starting the engine, a second or third push gets results. As my wife drives this car mostly, she tells me it’s continuing to get harder, until yesterday when it would not start at all. When she tried this morning it started no problems.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Is it the button, solenoid, starter motor or other possibility. Would appreciate your thoughts.
