Cigweld MOG welders are pretty terrible.
I bought mine used but almost new, and then I read the reviews… I consoled myself with the fact that I paid less than 50% of the new price, but it still wasn’t a great welder.
In particular, it was bad on starts, and it wasted a ton of gas when I was tacking stuff (gas keeps flowing for a few seconds after you release the trigger).
Then it got worse on the starts - it was literally like the worst stick welder I’ve ever used in the way it wouldn’t start the weld unless you cranked the voltage up too high … and then it would blow holes…
Eventually it went mad and would just keep feeding the wire out when you released the trigger, so I ditched it.
The UniMIG I replaced it with is much better.
A couple of mates have had similar experiences with their CIGW MIGs, of both lower and higher capacity units.
I don’t know how this translates to the CIGweld stick welders but it is enough for me to avoid buying anything CIGweld ever again.
