Apart from the generic K&M type does anyone know of Cold Air Induction kit for a 850 turbo ?

I don't see any worthwhile gains though apart from increase induction/turbo whoosh..

I made a template of an ipd one and made my own for my 850. If you want to d.i.y i can send you a copy of the template. It's worth it for the induction noise alone i have one fitted to both my 850 and V70xc.

The STD Volvo airbox is known to be very good.
If you want better with that , run a 102mm∅
tube from the front to the existing airbox.
For the noise , run a tube off the airbox upper part , maybe off the airpump outlet that's not used here , and plumb it into the cabin on the drivers side where the rubber grommet is for wiring. Easy noise maker.
Easier/cheaper than a pod kit which may have less surface area than a STD panel filter
You can buy galvanised flexi air tube from Masters Hardware , $23 , enough to do two cars ( Bunnings don't have it)

In all honesty are you saying a K&N filter has brought you better throttle response *and* better fuel economy?

I did this to my 960 on Saturday.
3" Aluminium tube. 76mm silicon 90 deg, 45deg & 76mm - 102mm reducing 45deg & a 102mm bell mouth inlet.

A short section of Aluminium tube siliconed onto the air box to allow the 90deg to be attached. Another section of ovaled Aluminium tube section to join the two 45deg silicone pieces so they could pass between the radiator and the body through the factory path, etc, etc.

Yes @bradc I couldn't believe it either !!
Between 7and 7.3 liters per 100 kms
It use to be 7.8 to 8.1. I've done Byron to Brisbane 3 times in different times of the day and had the same result.

Depends how much you oil it too...
There are comparisons on flow of paper vs oiled , how much dirt they keep out compared as to how much power gain etc etc.
Interesting reads or videos iirc.
Plus the oil making its way microscopically to the MAF and shortening its life.
Look em up.

I believe that they also clog up to. I used use the socks on my webers. these work well so long as you oil them sparingly and clean regularly. Same would apply to the panel filters, and the general driving conditions.

i'll start an economy trial this week too.
My feeling is that economy may be worse if can suck more air then more fuel would be required?!?!

Unless it let's it breathe better therefore fuels it better , its a dark art we muck around with

I cleaned my MAF , got better economy.
It still stuffed up again , was on its way out so swapped another in and got heaps better economy.

I tried a cheap Chinese one on a previous v70t which worked OK much to Mark @vptuning disgust....funny. Probly wouldn't last.

It's not big enough!!!!! In the short term I'll bung on a 2 into 1 x 3" outlet merge collector, a S/Steel 3" cat and a 3" to 2.5" reducer after cat and some new pipes and mufflers. Later, I'll do the M50 equal length headers.
