So, despite an egregiously long pause between updates, I have still been slowly tinkering my way through the list...
I finally decided to replace the revolting and degrading firewall insulation. This was not doing anything useful:
So I pulled it out and cleaned the firewall - clean as a whistle!
And now replaced with this cheap, shiny, squishy stuff from the internet.

@Angus242164 I now have a beautiful gear boot cover. A bit of leather restorer, polish and some new stitching, and it looks the goods:
I also fitted the wood trim from the GLE that ended up at the local wreckers...
Unfortunately, the far left piece was missing from the wreck. I replicated it using a bit of tassie red oak. Not perfect, but good enough for now, until i get a chance to do a better job.
And then the pre-fuel pump fuse went bad. This crusty looking thing was no longer cutting it:
Now replaced with a new waterproof fuse holder:
I also did the Dave Barton fuel pump relay mod while I was in there, to add a load-bearing cheap Narva relay to take the current away from the fuel pump relay.
New front suspension bushings and parts to fit next:
Current status: Dog Approved.
