Another day of Volvo... slow but solid progress:
The screen mount is tidied up, the rot routed, and the first coat of anti-rust epoxy applied. Later in the week it'll get a second coat, and then I'll touch up the bits that show with some close-enough gold paint (which the guy at the paint shop informed me is not gold at all, but in fact 'champagne').
I optimistically decided to try some more electrical systems today - and found that almost everything had been disconnected behind the dash. There is a lot more research to do before I know what's what in there, but for the moment, I'm waiting to replace what appears to be the wrong flasher relay.
On delving further, I found what I assume to be the heater piping from the engine into the cabin, covered with some very suspicious looking black goo - that can't be good right?

Worst of the rot sanded off, and the surface converted with phospho to stem reoccurrence:
First coat of anti-rust epoxy applied to the mount and descendent rusty patches:
Someone had disconnected the everything:
Always nice to remove a trim panel and find this:
Heater pipe to cabin, or Lovecraft nightmare?
