Hey Swedeophiles (yeah, maybe not that one),
My family is getting yet another Volvo. Between my mum's XC60, my grandfather's C70, my grandmother's XC70, and my 940, it's all getting rather silly. In any case, my dad is looking at getting a 2nd Generation (P1) 2011 C70 that he's seen listed. We're going to have a look at it tonight so I figured I'd ask the big brains on what to look out for. I'm fairly certain that it's got the B5254T7 engine in it if that makes a difference. I'm a Redblock kind of guy so I'm not too sure what I'm looking for on these cars. It's got a full service history which is nice, and pretty low klms too. I'm going to make a checklist before I head out but what I'd like to know is:
- What were the common issues on these cars?
- Are the aforementioned issues costly to fix/replace if they need tending to?
- As enthusiasts, what maintenance (preventative or otherwise) do you recommend performing on them?
- Are there any signs to watch out for that shows the car is one to steer clear of?
If there's anything else you think is pertinent then by all means go for it. My dad is really excited to get his hands on a C70 but I want to make sure he's well-informed and not going to pick up a money pit.
