Got a skandix order sitting around $500 AUD. Anyone keen to join in? Would split the shipping costs according to the proportion of your order relative to the total.

Pickup would be in Sydney (Ryde area), or I can post at cost.

ramrod yup I had it in mind but thanks for the reminder. I know skandix charges GST on all orders but curious what other charges and duties customs would apply if it crosses the threshold.

Also do you know if postage is included in the threshold or they only look at the value of the goods?

You need the order total, not including shipping, to be under $1000 AUD. I usually leave a bit of a margin for exchange rate movements and cap my orders at $950 AUD.

If you cross the $1k mark, and if customs notices, then you get charged GST on the total including shipping (not at all confusing, is it), as well as some other fees.

GST is payable on the parts and freight costs, plus there is a customs processing fee of $95 because you went over the$ 1000 limit. I found out the hard way.
