So we've now had it for the past week and so far most things are going well. There are a few small things that need to be sorted.
First one is the clutch is getting better but it still has a somewhat vague feel. I located where the slave bleed valve is and to my surprise its actually plastic! Its quite a large fitting so i have a giant vacuum syringe that I can use to pull a vacuum on it to stop it sucking in air.
The genuine oil filter turned up yesterday along with the new top and bottom hoses and thermostat. Im changing all of these things because I dont want to have anything go wrong that could have been avoided by some preventative maintenance.
We did a trip to Sydney and I ran a double dose of injector cleaner through it with some 98. It definitely pulls harder through the low and mid range. Its idle has also smoothed right out but I think it will still need the throttle body and plugs changed as there is a tiny hesitation in the upper range when you get it over 4k. It isnt super noticeable but it is there.
Gear shifts are getting tighter but there are some times when you shift and it feels a little truck like in its feedback so im gunna swap out the transmission fluid as i cant find any records of it being done and the service book calls for it every 30k as well as the transfer case and diffs.
It will need new tyres but I havent decided on what I want yet. Im leaning heavily towards some Toyo Open Country A/Ts or Pirelli Scorpions but more so the Toyos due to the price.
That being said they seem to be small hiccups that can largely be managed by myself for the cost of parts.
I also gave it the first polish and wax since owning it and it came up pretty good!
