Slowbrick;53654 wroteOh i think I should have explained that better lol. What I meant was since their 90's interations. I know they started way back in the late 70's, but most cars back then were pretty average. 80's cars were also pretty meh in terms of the general market. We had a VH commo wagon and Dad hated it. The only thing he liked about it was the sheer power compared to the datto wagon it replaced and the colour! In the 90's everyone seemed to be moving forward but the commo while better than its previous versions was still kinda lagging behind. I think commos started getting good with the VY. The combo of a nice body shape with the bulletproof moo moo was pretty good.
I actually thought VE was probably their pinnacle really ... VF is, well OK I like ours & the interior's a nicer place to be than a VE, but it's still just polishing-up what they did with the VE. But VE was a fresh design that was all theirs.
Having said that, VT was a pretty neat shape, especially Monarofied!
I've always leaned in the Ford direction, but only due to sheer numbers; 9 out of 10 at school were in the Holden camp. Back when they leapfrogged each other, the better car was whatever had been released most recently (and the most reliable car was probably something with a Toyota badge, at least ever since the Commodore badge was launched here). But Ford basically finished after the FG; FG-X is a minor facelift at best, and we specifically wanted a wagon.
