I'm getting rid of my Land Rover, and thinking about putting the 940 to work as a tow car. Sadly it's an auto, but I understand the AW70 to be more than up to the job. Would be towing a 1,000 kg van with 'leccy brakes. It's already booked for engine / transmission service and new radiator…

Does anyone do a bit of towing with an old high mileage RWD? Any advice?

Sounds like you're on the right track changing fluids and looking after maintenance items. Heater hoses and ignition parts are often overlooked and are worth checking also.

I found fitting an extra transmission cooler was the way to go for my towing. I fitted a Davis craig #610 cooler to my 940 to help the ATF last longer.
