240 Instrument panel - no power?

Hi I am stumped with my 240 instrument panel. Replaced the odometer cog and everything in place. When I turn the ignition I get a warning light and nothing works. Removed everything and reconnected it 10 times over and nothing works. It seems there's no power. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Evan

evan what year, by memory there is one electrical connector that shouldn't be connected to anything, the problem is people connect it and stuff the board. You may be able to google info on it.

Its a 1988.

evan All connections are exactly as they were when dismantled. I've done a few others with no such problems. They come apart and back together like a lego kit. You can't go wrong that why I'm confused as to why nothing works on this one.

How many warning lamps?

Which ones?

Everything is out except indicators.

I think its a wiring harness problem and not the instrument panel itself. Unless there's a fuse or relay I'm missing.

There is a fuse which protects the instruments located in the fuse box.

There is also a fusible link in the instrument cluster.

I removed the instrument panel and connected it up into my 87 240 sedan which works perfectly. There is no power showing to the panel. So, the problem car the 88 wagon seems to have all wiring harnesses in place without any problem. It seems that the instrument panel is dead. I can change the voltage regulator but its only supposed to control power to the heat and fuel gauges. Still not sure what could be the problem.

My guesses are -

a bad ground connection
an open circuit fusible link
physical damage to the circuit board where the connectors plug on
a dry solder joint at one or more of the connector terminals on the circuit board

Finally got it sorted. There is a circuit connection on the panel above the speedo. It has a screw and washer connecting it at each end and provides power back into the circuit. If it isn't screwed back tightly the circuit it broken for power. Lowsy design but thats all is was. Thanks for your advice. Now the next problem. Cheers Evan
