I'm having a bit of trouble fitting new drivebelts to my recently acquired 740T affectionately called "Duh Devil" (because it's red and "Duh Devil" just sounds funny). Now I've had no trouble fitting new drive belts to Lisa the other 740 but for some reason this time around it's a PITA.
Main gripe is the powersteering pump belt. After loosening the top 13mm lock nut, bottom 13mm pivot nut and slacking the 10mm tension bolt almost all the way I could only move the power steering pump 1cm. WTF. Tried wiggling around and even hit it with a hammer to no avail. I was able to fit a 11A0980 belt on Lisa no probs (although very small room for tensioning). I bought the same sized belt this time around. Problem is not the belt being too short but pump just won't budge.
Then I got desperate and removed the bottom pivot bolt. Ahhh much better. Unfortunately can't fit the bottom bolt in anymore. And the pump is out of alignment. DOH!!

Now I was thinking if I ditch the lower 13mm long pivot bolt I could fit the 11A0980 belt but it will be a little out of alignment. How bad is this? Could my pump bracket be out of alignment like what they say here:

I don't get noise and it was getting dark so I'll have to have a look tomorrow.
Alternatively, I could stick the bolt back in and try find a belt that JUST fits over the pulleys with my very limited tensioning range. I may as well work on the car next to the shop to avoid 5 trips up and down.
I did my research and there seems to be quite a variation among the brands.

Interesting to note that 11.9 belts are same width as the 11A belts
At the end of the day as long as it's within tensioning bolt range I guess MOST of these should fit if not all. Sorry for rambling...
