Easier than a 740 one as the dash top comes off easily
Cj1992
Oh sweet ill definitely take a look once i get the car to mine
Rob
You don't need to pull the dash top off. Heater core comes out through passenger footwell. It is very simple and should take you an hour tops.

Misfire....check date on the leads and if close to C70 manufactorers date replace the lot....plugs (if history) cap / rotor and the leads then you should be fine!
Cj1992
Alright are they plastic cores or brass? , yeah i was getting all of that gear together i got a good feeling its either a lead or plug i just hope its not a burnt valve but i think thats highly unlikely lol
Rob
plastic.
Cj1992
No worries thanks mate ill take a look on the weekend and see how i go
Cj1992
Alright so i got the car towed yesterday and i now have it at mine i spent all afternoon yesterday to find out why it was misfiring i replaced the spark plugs and im getting nice fat sparks on all 5 cylinders but ive determined its cylinder 1 thats not firing but pulling the lead and the injector plug i put my injector test light on number 1 plug and it was pulsing like it should i havent had a chance to swap the injector over to another cylinder but will do so tomorrow the only other thing i can think of would be low compression or a burnt valve i also pulled p0201 203 and 204 from the codes which tells me there injector open circuits but all the injector plugs are firing. Sorry if its a bit hard to follow its just got me a bit puzzled on this one.

Have a look at the orings/baskets could need replacing...
Also inspect the injector wiring especially across the fuel rail the plastic protection casing becomes brittle over time and breakdowns which could expose the wiring causing misfires.
Cj1992
i removed the alloy cover which was concealing the injector wiring i found the conjuit covering the wires was all deteriorated but the wiring looked still to be intact but saying that i could be wrong, are these things common for burning out valves? im a bit worried about what fuel the previous owner was running in it i hope it wasnt e10.. it just seems to be number 1 all the others are firing perfect.

A compression test will tell you straight away.
White blocks are sensitive to plugs and HT leads.
Cj1992
Yeah i was going to borrow the compression tester from work this week ill also try and grab a new set of leads this week along with a top engine mount and im hoping ill get somewhere atleast.
Cj1992
Update on how this lovely nightmare is going , turns out my missfire is mechanical i done a compression test and number 1 has zero compression while 2 to 5 have well above 170 psi i now have the car into a workshop that specialises in volvos to hopefully get the issue resolved my suspicions is a burnt valve due to finding off the previous owner that it was running e10... But looking forward to being able to drive this beauty.
nickm
More like a burnt valve due to a bad injector. Or a Head gasket problem.
E10 would not cause that.
phonsa
Sorry to hear about the issue, agree its not e1o related.
E10 has more octane (95 RON) than standard unleaded and hence has better knock protection then 91 unleaded.
Our magna sports has been on E10 diet for over six years not one issue to speak of.

If you're down on compression on one cyl, id go with a valve issue.
A PITA, no doubt. Though if it was an relatively inexpensive purchase, it's not a huge hurdle.
