TV on the blink tonight so Im catching up on a few work things and then decided that sucks for a Saturday night so am going with an update on Australia's ugliest 242GT.
So the good news is that I drove it for the first time today! I bought the car just after it was accident damaged and the big problem was the steering rack was knackered, as was the the drivers side lower control arm (torn off), the front crossmember and the drivers side strut. I found a guy in Perth that wrecks 240's as hobby and was lucky enough to find all the parts at a reasonable price. Before labour im into the car for all of ~$700 including buying it ($200) the replacement drivers side qtr panel and glass (~$300 with transport Melb to Perth) .
The current aim was to get it driving (done!), convince someone to do the panel work for me (almost convinced someone), come up with final mechanical combo and then get it painted and interior done.

Replacing stuff up front
Doing a fly buy of the T5R
I was kind of joking about this but may end up putting these in the car, at least until I figure what to do about the original seats re-trimmed properly.
I do have the original boot as well...
I have to admit looking at these pictures it really is the roughest car I have ever taken on but I do have some hope of it turning out well.
I do have a complete M47 conversion bits for it now as well, including the diff with the speed sensor in it (although I suspect Ill put the R Sport dash in with a GPS speedo (Roger in the US can screen print it to match).
If anyone has any ideas what to do with it (other than stop immediately and spend time/money more wisely!) would be great hear them as a I am mechanical gumpty.
Cheers Mark
