Engine oil. The gasket 'goo' makes it appear red.

Engine oil leak,
Start from the very top, work downwards.
Clean the entire engine to make it easier to find the source. Have you ever removed the inlet manifold to replace the oil trap?
Thanks, but it is leaking from the metal cover with the red gasket 'goo'. I am wanting to know what the cover is for and which sealant to use.

That cover is bolted to the transmission
Unless you have mistook the leak for engine oil, whereby it is actually transmission oil that is leaking
Very good. I had missed the obvious. I'll put a white drop sheet on the ground to confirm the colour of the leak.
