240 steering follow ip

Hi,

I’m still working on adapting a 240 steering column to my 144 rally car. Nearly there! Sorry the photos have appeared out of order.

Does anybody have any of the uni joints as below? They are splined both sides, 3/4” x 48 splines in both sides. It’s possible that they Image description
may be the ones Ramrod said are NLA.

A question: my 1981 240 had the lower steering shaft in the picture below. It’s normally black but I painted it. Does anybody know if it matters which way up its fitted? If I fit it big side down, it gives me more clearance around my airbox.

jrhendo you can flip them, people often do it in 240s for turbo downpipe clearance.

I should have added that the uni joint I’m looking for is the one between the main steering column and the little shaft that goes down to the steering rack, probably from an early 1980s 240. That’s where mine was from.
