If you and a tuner you know have familiarity with the Emtron ECU, and you're comfortable with installing it, do it. I can't for the life of me understand why you'd bother with ancient Bosch jetronic ECUs if you have the option of running something from this millenium. The ability alone to run MAP/Airtemp and get rid of the MAF sensor and make a brand new loom, if you have the funds to do so, means more flexibility and you're far less likely to be chasing down wiring/electrical gremlins in future, if like you say you're planning on keeping this long term.
If you do come across LH2.4 Fuel/Ignition ECUs then they'll do fine, but I'd say if you have to go out and buy them, I'd save that cash and go aftermarket if I were you.
