Hi everybody got my first Volvo the other day a 2013 XC60 T6 Polestar tune….. Christ on a pony this thing is fast and I thought my turbo Forester was fast…..

It has about 100k on it only hasn't been used much….

What's everyone choice of brake pads / disks ? OEM or something else ? DBA maybe?

Also thinking of having the Haldex serviced and a transmission flush. Engine mounts were done by the previous owner last year it also has a new AC compressor….

Any other things I should be aware of and have checked out ?

Also engine oil the Volvo manual says 0w30 A5B5 I find that a surprisingly weak spec oil for the Australian climate and such a beast of an engine….any thoughts on this?

Also where do you order parts from local, USA or Europe ?

Always use tha oil never mind who sells it.

Trans MUST be vacuum flushed , if in Melbz its Jim Walton Transmission shop as used by Berry Motor Group to rebuild these and service them.

Which mounts aas theres a hidden one up top in front of driver,

Add a TDI Tuning box to the tune and REALLY feel like a supercar! Otherwise i have a Heico tune and also a Heico enhineer signed engine cover is you want !

Coils. When you get an engine CEL that says too hot pull over asap its coil/s failure. They will smell like an electric burining smell and at worst set fire to the oily engine cover from spilled oil when filling…….

(ive had a fire service attend when outside a school just for the reason im outside a school and its a putrid smell!)

Funny the A.C pump went already must have been constant use , NOT cheap…

PS pump goes , get fluid flushed and new even if not on any list.

Haldex gets whiney wney front el cheapo bearing fails as does the runner mount.

Bearing replaced with Land Rover part is 100x better than Volvo junk (long story , same haldex.)

Change trans fluid every 60K klm.

Get a trans cooler , bypass the radiator one,

Get a oil cooler , bypass the radiator one.

Get a steering rack cooler!

Steering lock module fails . if it does , bash under the steering wheel HARD.

Its a 1200$ part plus coding……..

EPic fun with a TDI tuning box and way too fast for most……………..

Buy Ozvolvo decals , they are a must have!

Australian climate is VERY TAME compared to anywhere else ,

Penrite and AMSOIL are great oils.

Look up Amsoil dealers. Its the best , look at the tests.

The AMSOIL Premium or whatever its called is better tha A5B5 so dont worry.

    I used it in my 200,000klm V60T6

You think I should replace the coils as a preemptive measure?

any recommendations for a trans cooler and oil cooler?

I'm in WA will a drain re-fill a couple of times not work for the trans?

It's too fast as it is to be honest going to give my son whiplash till I get used to the damn thing…. I defo do not want any more power as it will get me in trouble it's just so effortless and you don't even notice you're speeding….

I was lucky the day it went out on me, I rang Mark of Berry Motor Group as we have a social meal and pint now and again. He said to limp it to his place as he had old but good ones off his v70T6 at the time.

I took off engine cover, popped bonnet to safety catch so direct air on coils, I took it easy and got there fine , no limp warning.

We felt for the hottest coil and swapped it. Another one went not long after. He have me two so I had a spare after that one….. It was the school area one that 2nd time. The firies came as I called coz it kept smoking….. They jump out with correct scanner in hand to disconnect battery! It had settled down by then. I was going to pick up a pod type BBQ off a guy, very apt , my car was a bbq….

You may try feeling them to see Olof one hotter than other, the plastic cover just pops up with a pull.

After a bit of drive see if any hotter. Mark has good prices on Volvo genuine parts.

My best fun was full throttle U turns. It just went around like on rails and just great fun!!

Love that engine. The V8 is great too but different. IDE have a T6 again any day!

Actually i have a few coils new but from china i was going to try , its good for emergency you can have em for postage if you want spares.

Got some filters , oil , air and cabin filter too iirc.

BDK here’s my experience with the T6 and V8 that I currently own. But each to there own

Most Volvos left the factory with Castrol Edge fully synthetic in them. I use 5w-30 or 5w-40.The T6 engine has done 250k kms and never missed a beat. The 5w-40 makes it whisper quiet. We are never going to get to minus 25deg c here!! Change the oil regularly.

I use DBA rotors and Akebono ceramic pads all-round. They are awesome, and NO dust. The rotors DO NOT WARP and essential for a heavy, high performance car. Brake fluid flush

Other issues are shocks, strut mounts and bearings and control arm bushes. Sway bar links.

Check PCV oil trap valve cover. If it hasn't been changed replace it asap. You don't want to know why :

      Spark plugs, coolant antifreeze flush

      Parts FCP and Rockauto

      Enjoy
