DCW242 I've just bought a 98 V70R, the owner lost the keys, it's locked but the windscreen is a bit ordinary so I'll cut the screen out and fit a new one once I've gotten in. Does anyone know what's involved in getting a key coded other than towing it to a dealer?
GeorgeVolvo Congratulations! Any pics? I just bought one too & starting the fun of bringing it back to life 🤦🏻♂️ Can’t help about the key situation sorry! 🤷🏻
1971_144GL I have a 98 v70 2.5t and years ago seem to remember that I had a dealer cut a key from the vin number as they are pre canbus. The chip in the key was then encoded to the car by a system of turning the ignition on and off in a sequence. I understood this technique no longer worked for cars after 99. Perhaps dealers can still cut keys? It must be 15 years since I walked in the door of one.
GreenGL An independant Volvo workshop should be able to help if you give them the VIN,. Give a local one a ring for a quote and advice.
