I bought a new seat grid from Wagonmeister via internet recently. (he also sells new urethane seat squabs)
He has an instruction video but I modified the technique a little. The product is a s/s grid that takes the place of the 32+yo wires that are under your seat. It takes longer to get the seat in and out (and vacuum all the hard to reach places) than it does to replace the grid. I snipped my OE grid with pliers to get it out. Wear safety glasses for that bit incase something gets loose) Then place the new grid right war around, make sure your springs are right way round and attach.
The difference is life changing!
And yes, I know, my foam is crap. Anyone who wants to sell me a LHS seat base for a tan cloth '92 that's not crumbly, please be in touch.
