[Solved] How do i free the driver side carpet?

I bought @ilduceglider 's S70 last week. I'm a right leg amputee and have to move the accelerator pedal to the left side. I want to bolt a mount for it to the floor under the carpet to do as little damage as possible. To do that I have to lift the carpet. The Haynes manual says just free the edges of the carpet from under the trims and lift, but there is a footrest on the left side of the carpet that seems to be bonded to the sound deadening on the firewall. I have tried prying between the carpet and the footrest, and under the carpet, and it only seems to lift the sound deadening.

There must be some clips somewhere. Can someone tell me how to release them?

ilduceglider Thanks Peter. I got a link to a YouTube video on the US site that showed how it is done. <YouTube video> A small screwdriver is used to release a clip under the footrest. I'll try that out tomorrow.

Beware the plastics you need to remove, all are brittle and will break.

I was wary of breaking something, which was why I asked.
I got the footrest off today. That video was a great help. I am surprised that such an involved step isn't mentioned in the Haynes manual.

When I got it off, I found that the little tab that was mentioned in the video was broken off. I couldn't find it anywhere, so I'm guessing that a previous expeditioner broke it.

No matter. Now I can put the mount for the accelerator pedal under the carpet. Much neater and a bit stronger.
