Late update on the volvo, have got a heap of things done a fair while ago but no time to pop an update on here!
- Exhaust has been patched up and rewelded to fix multiple leaks
- Brand new auto trans cooler lines built from trans to radiator (high pressure thick gates hoses with fittings to the lexus box then to the volvo rad)
- Both rocker cover gaskets done
- Sway bar is all sorted, needed the little lip on the chassis massaged a bit as was creaking, car is heaps better on the road now though, moved the brake lines further out of the way as well with a little bracket
- Further modification to the volvo shifter now allows manual select of 1st Gear :) and drilled a rubber boot over the whole assembly for added legit look (the plastic casing doesn't fit anymore as the whole assembly was reversed)
Haven't found any virgos yet so got some 15x7 ROH alloys cheap the other day and span some tyres onto them - they fit OK and will do until i find some virgos, I think I need larger wheel nuts with a better taper and the front inside runs awfully close to the strut tube... Any way some pics
The new alloys bolted on
Here's the little brackets i cut and drilled to space the brake lines further out of the way on mine, really pretty similar to what you've done anyway
@Ghettobird (cheers for the assist)
Aside from the ol v8 volvo Pop's M46 in his sedan had a leaky overdrive unit and was engaging all the time, the parts were steep to rebuild it and we're hoping to put an RB25 in it before long, so we picked up a cheap m45 off
@carnut1100 with all the required bits, it was a bit rusty so needed a clean out and the shifter cage was bent but was modified back to straight (enough) then pulled the B230e out, changed the clutch, trans, tailshaft and cleaned some stuff and shes back together again.
Last weekend we entered my house mates stock 240 in a motorkhana and had an absolute ball, we were not very competitive but we weren't the slowest and it was our first time out, lots of skids = lots of grins
Hardest part was finding somewhere to mount the extinguisher (had to be bolted to the car not screwed for regs) we ended up cutting up some galv bracket and drilling it to bolt up to the plate on the LHS firewall using some tube cut down to evenly space it, worked a treat and saved drilling holes in the car.
Pretty soon we're looking at starting the turbo conversion on the 1UZ, just need to figure out exactly what and how we will do it.. considering using stock silvia T25 turbos as I have one already spare but they might run out of puff in the revs.. will keep updates coming atleast when we start bolting the lungs on!
