Part Name Help and Source Please?

Hi,

I wonder if someone can please assist me.

I have a Volvo XC 90 2009 is I think the year of manufacture. Yesterday whilst parked at the side of a country road, a MASSIVE truck flew past SO fast that the door to my petrol tank blew open with such gusto that the black plastic bracket that used to hold the metal wire part (that resembles a huge safety pin and I thin acts as a hinge), snapped off completely and the door fell to the ground.

Can anybody please tell me:

The name of the black plastic bracket thingey?
A good place from where to order it ASAP?

Ex850R Many thanks indeed. I was avoiding Volvo dealerships due to their outlandish prices. I seem to have thankfully found them on eBay.

The part is a fuel door hinge and I can supply a new one

They’re cheap enough that you would opt for new, rather than used.

Beware eBay and the china sites like Alibaba as the stuff does not last.

BMG can supply genuine or good replacement with warranty. Volvo genuine at cheaper than dealers but with 2 year warranty.

Ex850R Oh many thanks indeed. I shall check out BMG. Brash, malevolent grasshoppers? Britains are Majestic and Gangrenous? Perhaps it's a mutated song of ADCD?
I was not going to buy from China but instead found a few sellers located in Aust. That said, I will Google BMG.

I looked up BMG and found there is a British company of that name but then I realized you'd been referring to the Berry Motor Group so I now have their number and all is well.

The part number (embossed at the top of the hinge if you look closely) is 31265160, you can quote that to a Volvo dealer or Berry Motor Group or buy online. I agree with the others that in this instance a genuine Volvo part is the right way to go.

@Ex850R when you refer people to BMG you should say "tell 'em Les sent ya" I'm pretty sure you're de facto working on their spare parts desk at this point 😆

From what I hear the parts desk is hell on earth all the time. Mark should be knighted for his work. And dealing with the unwashed that roll up or call is what he is great at …..Not getting me there!

What he has is a knowledge not many others can match. He started out pulling these cars apart, then working on them, now gets to see every issue that very busy 16 hoist shop gets so knows when to use cheap and when Volvo genuine is warranted.

He does spend way to much time giving free advice though so if you are in town shout him a pint , send him a voucher for Dan Murphy….

Ok, so to end this discussion, thank you to all who replied. It was much appreciated and as usual, I learned a great deal.

I had already looked up eBay which had them for $16 +. That said and given the advice in here to avoid cheap parts which might be poor quality, I called BMG who quoted$ 45 and I presume that was without shipping. I now live in Central Vic but back when I lived in Melb I used to go to the wonderful Voldat Motors with John Johnson. I called John who had such a part in stock and I paid him $45 including express postage costs.

To the guy who quoted me $110 for an eBay part and installation, telling me it would take him an hour to install (charming eh?), I said "Thank you but Volvo told me it takes 5 mins at most so I'll do it myself."
