Hi every one
I recently purchased my first Volvo.
It's a blue 98 s40 t4.
It's an auto with 175000 km.
The main reasons I brought it were I wanted to try a volvo and it was cheap. It has turned out to be a great little car. I enjoy driving it. I brought unseen from a action. So I think I've been lucky.
It has a few problems which I've been looking into.
First up I had to replace a broken rh mirror. It took me a couple of days to find one and it only cost $50. Pretty happy with that.
Other things required mainly for rws are 2 new tyres . Rear brake pads and possibly disks. A replacement rh inner guard, a hub end rh drive boot. And possibly a rh rubber piece at the top of the strut tower. I'm not sure if mine is road worthy. It has a crack. Besides this it has a large dint in the drivers door. I also should give it a service and change the cam belt.

They might pick it up, maybe not. I'd think it'd be a RWC issue though.

Ok thanks ash. So are you saying it would be a fail if noticed? Do you think it's a safety issue ? I am talking about a Rwc inspection. wonder if the piece is the same on the s40 and the t4

Can any one please tell me if there is any tricks to replace the rear brake pads with out and wind in tool?

Hi azzrock.....this is not a T4 S40!!!
Top struts are not the same for 97 till03/04.
There are 3 set ups and these are the early bearing type....

Ok maybe I should change the tittle. Only reason I thought it was . Because it was described as a 97 volvo s40 t4 auto with 1.9 turbo engine.

I'm slightly embarrassed.
I had wondered where is the 16 inch wheels . Intercooler. Power and a few other things.
You know I've been swindled with out knowing what I was buying. Lucky it was only cheap

Nothing to be embarrassed about. It is what it is..
but it is certainly not a T4, nor is it turbocharged.

Well it's a nice little car. I think I might contact the seller. I did buy the car "as is" but there advertising was miss leading to say the least .

I like your tinking azzrock but by now you know it is not there!!
I would surely contact the seller but if it is a privat buy no hope there then....if sales yard then different.
I have a normal S40 01 non turbo and goes ok....of course nothing like the V40T4 manual
