850 Hand brake leather sleeve removal

Has or does anyone know how to remove the leather cover sleeve off the 850 hand brake.
The leather is qiute worn on my 850R hand brake (grey leather ) and I've got an upholstery bloke that can make a new one to match the steering wheel & auto gear selector.
Are there any particular tools or clips involved.

My 1997 V70 hand brake handle just pulls off. To remove the actual boot around the hand brake I had to partial remove the arm rest centre console screws so you cam move the centre console around

Does the leather sleeve slide back over the metal tube and clip back into place

I just wiggled it off. Mine looks like this and has a C70 leather grip. Not 100% sure if 850 is the same but I would expect it to be close as mine is the first year P80 V70

It feels like it's gripping around where the shift button end is.

Thanks heaps for that , the leather on mine is slightly different but metal tube is same according to volvowebparts store schematics

I did have to remove it with some force and a better way to describe it open palm slap it back on till it was home. 75% going on easy 15% palm slap. That's why I said it feel like it clips/holds at the top end near the button
