The V70 is just a toy and helps get though some work a bit quicker - it'll be a good 3rd car for a little while before it gets replaced though.

My DD will get replaced before the end of the year. I just need a few spare days so I can drive a couple of things. Was debating a new XR6 ute but I cant get the insane pricing I could get last year and this year may be my last racing karts, so something smaller would be ok too. Decision decsions.

Brakes are indeed huge and make the common swap to 302mm brakes feel pretty ordinary.
A decent 4 or 6 spot caliper would be better but this conversion is very cost effective.

Ash , are those Korean callipers any good? Forget the name now , they have many spot callipers , way many ones!!

K Sport, D2 and XYZ are the common ones. Specs look reasonable but I really don't have any first hand experience with them

K Sport, D2 and XYZ are the same - siimply rebrands of eachother.

Interesting bit of info about the Ohlins struts compared to the typical oem Sachs and the other, more common options -

The Volvo dust boot fastens to the bump stop, however due to the upside-down nature of the Ohlins shocks and the fact that the bump stop is internal, the Volvo bump stop and dust boot wont fit.

The original dust boot on the Ohlins struts must have been an Ohlins specific/provided part.
I didnt get them with my struts as they'd already been disassembled, so I wont use one.
Not a really big deal at all, as the reality is that, again as they're an upside down design, a dust boot isnt neccessary and the bore assembly (which you think is the shaft when looking at them) actually has a very good dust seal between it and the body.

I was looking at my indicator units recently.
Thinking body colour on the side reflector area cos the large looking thing is no t a design I like , never have , too USA for me.
But your USA spec orange reflector may just suit my colour car!!??
Maybe I can play with a set I have , its this or smoke tint it instead....

Mine are normal late C70 jewel indicators, but I didnt bother with replacing the headlights as there is nothing wrong with the ones I have.
Dont tint them - they look pretty horrible.

Front V70R bar came from Swedish Wreckers. Rear V70R bar came from Volvrek.

Got a good chunk of work done over the last couple of nights, but still a bit to go.

* New water pump
* New timing belt
* New timing belt tensioners
* New timing belt idler
* New serpentine belt tensioner assembly
* New serpentine belt idler pulley
* New power steering pump
* New thermostat

I had the incorrect serpentine belt and dont have the correct one in stock - will get one tomorrow.

* Fitted the rebuilt Ohlins struts
* Fitted the DVS strut brace

Here's a quick teaser -

I should get another full day on it on saturday and it'll be close to being finished mechanically.

Nice, the reason I was wondering about the bumper was that I've got a S70T5 I'm wanting to get a V70R bumper for, you're V70 looks like it's coming along well and it looks awesome with the R bumpers on it too

I have the marks on my strut brace where the Öhlins reservoir was clamped and thought it an odd spot , convenient yes but considering the heat there not a good spot. My alloy brace gets too hot to touch so the shockers are getting cooked oil?

Darcy , I have an interesting solution to your front bar if you don't want it original , I shall post a picture but it is like Porsche 944 Turbo look or big lip.....I have the part here!
You will love or hate , I thought it a good look but have an R now so don't need it.

There is no good way to have the reservoirs fitted where they look 'neat' The Volvo genuine brace makes mounting easier than fitting to our brace, given its layout, but our brace is hugely stiffer and does its job more effectively.
Engine bay heat doesn't do anything any good, but they're intended/designed to work in hot environments and the heat generated internally when they're working hard massively exceeds engine bay temp.
The canisters are actually very impressive - there are a heap more moving parts internally than there are in the shock itself. The walls are quite thick and they're aluminium. I should have grabbed some pics of the internals.

I'm helping out with the rebuild of another set at the moment actually.
