irishbastard Yep, My 760 Turbo was imported in 2002 by the original owner, and it costed him 3,000 according to the eBay listing anyway....
irishbastard lasercowboy;49127 wroteWow! these are rare beasts indeed. From the Volvo confusing naming era, right? So even though it says 760, it's really a 4-pot turbo? Should be good fun to drive- apparently they handle amazingly? Out of interest, roughly how much did it cost to ship it UK to Aus? Yep their good fun to drive ;) , And yea I'd say there uncommon, they aren't completely rare "yet, it won't be long until they are
irishbastard Haha, yeah I know, you fic my car!! @VPT02 hehe Yea it's a project in the making, but yea another shitbox to the collection :P This ones nice apart from the major boot rust =)) Around 123,000 miles on the clock, converted its 190.000 kms
DCW242 VPT02;49199 wroteHow about selling all the cars you have a just buy one nice one! Sooo much more fun!!! Sounds good to me!
Ghettobird Do you have a wanted thread up @lasercowboy? I feel we are clogging up Darc's thread here with unrelated content You'd have to be crazy to import a 240 from the UK, they pop up If you have a thread up, I can keep an eye out and feed the links straight to your thread?
lasercowboy Yes, sorry again for getting off-topic! I do have a wanted thread up, (seeking manual 240 wagon) - i remain ever hopeful!
Ex850R Who is fixing the boot rust Darcy? Do you /can you get reproduction parts for that? Can you fix that yourself? Do you have all the tools needed and a workshop? These questions need to be asked bfore getting into it , as Mark said , get a nice one or two , get rid of too many projects and concentrate. No one is interested on how many 'rare' cars you have , you just end up broke and many rust buckets..... i too have too much to do , its about me getting going again rather than 'how many volvos i can buy and fix ' as i used to be able to do this work no problem but its a re-learning curve for me so i dont mind. Find out what you really want in a car , then buy that car..... good luck Bloke!
nickm 760 turbo's are round a fair few have been donor cars. Many aus ones the interior was cloth and didn't weather well. Many passed on about 5 years ago.
nickm The wheels that the oz ones came with were cool. So were the red interiors. I saw about 4or5 go to the scrap yard in the sky. The do have a metal clutch pedal if manual. And I think there was more 760 manuals turbos than 740 ones, relative to how many were sold.
iceton1975 Its not just the rust in the body or sills, or doors, it all the backing plates to the brakes, inside the arches, rusted and the battery tray. It will need some money spending to get the body in top order my guess is save $1000 for welding, or get it all done with Steve at AIM bodyshop and paint the car. OH the guards and body are rusted replace these as well. On the trim side it is in very good order. Stick with it Darcy dont flick it like you have done with so many others.
irishbastard It went to sheparton today, sold it to my mothers boyfriend for 1,000, it will sit in a shed up there until he does something with it.
