I have a leaky Brake Master pressure switch. Has anyone repaired one of these? or are they a throw away item ?

It would be a specialist job to do safely I would think as it is pretty high pressure.

I had the same problem on my c70. i changed it, found a second hand one. Think they are around $120 new

Get new from USA or UK , rags under reservoir and swap out.
Easy job and dont need to bleed.
Second hand may be waste of time...

It does not leak much at all suprisingly.
I put off doing it , worriedi would need to bleed or make a mess but i think it was MVS page that helped me.

So the Mid West Volvo in the States sent me a refund for the part as they don't stock it anymore.
Does anyone have any leads to find a switch in good condition ?

Search on part number 9173210. There is one on eBay and it looks like skandix might have them.

Just replaced my daughters 850 (steam coming from bonnet as each drop of brake fluid hit the heat shield).
Spent hours trying to find one on the net, Purnell Volvo confirmed Volvo does not stock them any more.
After some bad time wasting experiences at wrecking yard at Chipping Norton did not want 2nd hand one.
Tried a bit of lateral thinking so thought this is just a pressure switch, must be something similar. Googled & googled and found Ford USA had some on a few of their cars in that 95- 2003 period that also had same problem and looked identical to the Volvo one. I thought surely some of the local fords would have pressure ssensor and I found a Ford Au Power steering pressure switch - Fuelmiser brand. $20 and it works!!! Exact fit, almost correct thread - pitch is slightly different but still goes in an tightens up, probably could have used some brake fluid resistant tape to make it a better fit, electrical connection is identical. Did a quick swap with rag under cylinder , maybe lost a teaspoon full at most. Turned on ignition, ABS did its check and light went off so no problem there but when I took it for a test run it "clicks" when I brake HARD. I have a Ford Au ute with the same sensor and I notice it does click on full lock. Maybe the ford one operates as a "switch" rather than a "sensor." Not sure if this new Ford switch is doing what it is supposed to do but I cannot distinguish any difference in the braking. But then again the old switch was leaking so may not have operated properly anyway. Although the ABS says all is Ok the car doesn't feel like it has working ABS; there is none of that ABS pulse in the pedal but I cannot recall ever sensing that in this car. I'll investigate that further but I'm hoping for thoughts on the clicking sound on the new sensor.

Here are some pics of the Ford AU power Steering switch that is a direct fit.
Not sure if it does what it's supposed to do, but other than a clicking sound on Hard braking I cannot see any difference in braking behaviour and BTW it does not leak; well not yet anyway.

Try some gravel to get the ABS to kick in, it comes in late in this era of 850 if memory serves

I got sensor easily and cheap?? FCP or pfv iirc. Easy replacement. Actually had leaky one wrapped in rag for ages......

FCP no longer stock.
They just don't make them for the 850 any more.
Maybe a couple of years back you could still get some.
But now, even if you find it in a stock listing it will say "unavailable"

Nup, not even brake light switches.
Parts for older cars getting thin on the ground.
My Mr2's 91 & 96 getting hard to get parts for. Had to get new air con lines custom made to suit the only condenser I could find from the states. Even speedo cables hard to find, had to dig really deep.
