Ye need HIDs in those lights....well , when i had them they were pretty poor output even with high watt globes.

She's Back! 1996 850R Wagon, but no, it's not the manual. I've been told the performance of the headlights isn't wonderful but she's my second ride. Everyday ride is a Yamaha 530 Iron Max, or at least it will be when she arrives in a week or two. I just wanted to spruce the ol' girl up a bit. If the tax man is nice I'll look at some after market tail lights too.

V70 rear tails look good on these. Losing light qaulity for looks seems backwards to me. But it is a nice car!

Alex , the std ones are not too good either ,its just that these have a "different" spread and cutoffs that didnt wotk for me. V70 ones are poor too.

850 and V70 headlights are pretty ordinary. In my case, I just didnt like the look of the aftermarket options so the preference was to keep the originals. The late P80 C70 'jewel' were just too expensive for me to justify buying them.

I hear they are $350 odd each for jewels , I don't know if they rate better?
I get a little bit more done now and then on my modified projector x70 lights , still making changes but the meld is done. (Lexus ES300 twin projector headlights into x70 buckets , clear glass , fancy led inserts for park lights) kinda Terminator look atm....

I can work on doing this with 850 but I would need to get glass grinding paste/powder to take the lens fluting off the front glass , it's been done by others , sorta rainy day job.......
This should be done with retrofit HIDs inserts which is another option available to improve these lights.
Yours have clear glass already , much easier!.

I found the headlight lamps to be fine. It would appear the Spyder have upgraded the quality of earlier ones. Also got some after market tail-lights too. Really wanted to get rid of the large mass of red at the rear. These new lights are nice and clear/easy to see and the dark sides ties in nicely with the darkness of the green.

Another cosmetic change has been the new grill. I am planing to repeat the black mesh theme for the lower air intakes also.
