I'd say it was intended to be a dealer display car or something like that.
Front bar and rear spoiler are genuine TWR items and would be irreplaceable and the windows are REALLY dark - they're much more in line with a car that would sit in a dealer showroom for people to ogle over when browsing.

Correct, in the 'SuperTouring' era of the 840 and S40, they were 2.0L NA. Around 300hp.

Exactly. It's a promo car, no different to the 6 cyl auto commodores and falcons dressed up like V8 Supercars that do shopping centre and car dealer displays, etc.

The 242GT I own was a Volvo promo GpA = shopping centre and car dealer displays, etc.
Apparently it didn't even have an engine fitted for this task (no oil leaks in shops). Its still painted white, stripes deleted.
