S40T4
Hi all,
Looking for a bit of feed-back with suspension set ups on S40 V40. Good bad and other.
B4 Bilsteins dampers and Eibach springs seem to be a popular choice and importantly available here.
Not looking to turn it into a full on track car (l have one of them) but would like to improve on the standard set up.
Cheers Paul

I have koni adjustables with standard T4 springs... highly recommended
I have also driven 2 S40's with KW coilover kits... they are most excellent

Thanks, that's just the sort of feed back l was looking for.
Do the T4's have firmer spring than the T's? and if so are the dampers also a tad firmer?
We have a Red manual S40 T4, seriously one of the best cars l have driven. Front feels 100% even when driven close to the edge. I chased a pair of racy supercharged Minis with it through a 20k hilly and tight gap road, l was amazed at the ability of the S40 T4. Rear is in need of some new dampers, but the front is on the money in my opinion. What would you recommend for the rear?
We also have two V40T's, a silver 2002 and a black 2003. l adore them both, but the feedback through the front end is below par compared to the 1998 S40 T4. What would you suggest. l have a set of Eibach springs put away that are apparently 25mm drop and a Volvo part, I'm yet to see them as l haven't picked them up fro Berry Motor Group.
Thanks in advance, appreciate it,
Paul Edwards

T4 has a firmer rate than the T and slightly lower ride height (not a huge amount in it) but both share the same shock absorbers.
Unless you're unhappy with the ride height, the spring set in the T4 is quite good.
The Bilstein B4 will be similar to the original struts/shocks (most were Sachs from the factory)
It'd be worth looking at Bilstein B6 or Koni Sport Adjustables - both work very well in the S40/V40 models, but the Koni, I believe, is a little better.
When you get the spring set, snap some photos of the part numbers and markings and I should be able to ID them for you and give you an idea of what you can expect.
With the T4, if you are considering changing struts/shocks and springs, it'd be worth fitting a camber kit at the same time. Even slight changes in camber can make them even better.
We offer H&R and Eibach springs as well as Bilstein, Koni and Sachs shocks - happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks Ash,
Koni front dampers don't seam to be available, the part number l have for them if they were available is 8741- 1396.
Does any one have or know of a set secondhand or new old stock anywhere?
Koni rears not a prob, 8040-1222.
Mark is sending me up the springs today, would really like to run the Koni fronts.

chasing a left front Koni strut part no. 8741-1396 L sport.
also looking at other options with DVS (thanks Ash) but if the above item pops up anywhere l will buy it because Topperformance has a new old stock right side, but no left.

I have a pair of spax front springs that might be of interest. Will be a little lower than T4 ride height and a bit firmer.
