PaddlerEd Just doing a random trawl of ebay oddment auctions and found this 122s in Nowra. Thought it might be of interest to someone...
Rob http://ozvolvo.org/discussion/233#Item_3 was up once before, got up to $2024 but obviously didn't sell
PaddlerEd These random auction trawls are dangerous... This BiN price is about on the money, maybe a bit high as it's a petrol, but I want!
Ex850R I like the G Wagen!!!! Gas it and your set! Pity no A/C , would cost a bomb to get that put in..... Don't they like using the air con to help demist in Old Blighty?
PaddlerEd As the G-Wagen was sold through Merc Truck and Van dealers it wasn't really a common option in the 1980's, and yep, lots of people don't understand how using Air Con helps to demist... I'd not even bother gassing it; too much hassle (and probably not enough knowledge on what they're doing with it unless you're in Holland) and I don't like LPG...
PaddlerEd Burns dry, and often needs aftermarket lube systems (Flash Lube or similar) to make it work properly; different octane rating (I think) to petrol, so timing goes to pot, burns hotter (or cooler) so problems there and getting it set up right isn't easy, especially when it's something that people aren't that used to.
Ex850R I think the octane is around 100+ but less mileage and yes whilst most old systems changed valves and seals to suit the dry , a lot just require running on petrol for a bit now and again. I understand Holland did direct injection for 850s . Apparently the valve train in HPT 5 cyl are suitable anyway. I got hold of an LPG kit off a T5 850 the gas is injected on the outlet of the turbo , need to get a donut tank and a fitter and mucho power! May need to reflash the ARD ECU but they can send me a file and I do it here via obd and a switch they put onto the ECU .
Ex850R Plenty of old Holden and ford 6/8 motors done by the garage down the road in any town means older motors are a known thing so don't be scared :-O
